NBCC CAUTIONS ON ‘GOOD NEWS MISSION’, NOW TAKING PLACE AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY IN UGANDA

NBCC, Christian Forum Dimapur and the Korean Presbyterian Church Council, the Synod of South Atlantic have cautioned public against the “dangers” of ‘Pastor’ Ock Soo Park ’s Good News Mission which is scheduled to conduct ‘Bible Crusade’ at the Dimapur from October 26 onwards.

NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung in a statement said it has been confirmed from Baptist leaders and other major denominations in Korea that the Good News Mission was “not accepted by them because of wrong Bilblical teaching.” Rev Anjo informed all Baptist churches and members against having any association with the Good News Mission and also advised them not to participate/attend any programme organized by the Mission. Further, Rev. Anjo said the NBCC and the Ao Baptist Churches Association (ABAM) stood by the decision of the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church not to allow the particular group to use Church facilities.

Meanwhile, the Christian Forum Dimapur after an emergency meeting to discuss the “Bible Crusade” unanimously endorsed the decision of the NBCC, “not to have any association with this organization” and advised church members not to participate in any crusade organized by the Good News Mission. The Forum requested all Christian Churches, irrespective of their denominations, to ask the believers not to attend the crusade of Pastor Ock Soo Park.

The DCF in a statement noted the following as points of conflict with the Good News Mission, which purportedly taught that: (a) There are no personal sins. Stealing, killing etc are crimes and not sin. When a person accepts that he/she is a sinner, there is no further need for asking forgiveness for individual sins. (b) Repentance and forgiveness of sins, which are the key to the preaching of Jesus, are meaningless and (c) Church administrative systems, tithing, worship, keeping of the Lord’s Day, morning prayers etc are useless practices. The Forum also suggested that credentials of the Christian faith be sought in future from persons and organizations who request for sponsorship or use of the Church facilities.

Warning India of the dangers of Ock Soo Park’s Good News Mission, the secretary of Korean Presbyterian Church Council, the Synod of South Atlantic, P.C.U.S.A, Rev. Won Tae Cho said “all of the orthodox denominations in Korea have officially stated that Ock Soo Park’s Good News Mission is clearly heretical and have issued warnings regarding this cult.”

 Rev. Cho in a statement informed that Organizations affiliated with this cult included International Youth Fellowship (IYF) and Mahanaim Bible College. Rev. Dr. Cho also said that the members of the cult, besides their practice of tempting Christians of third world countries using aggressive tactics funded by their abundant capital, had recently infiltrated healthy Korean churches in America.
